More olfactory harassment in Rescaldina: "Impossible to open the windows"

«Like every winter in the morning it is impossible to open the windows, because you are literally invaded by this smell of spoiled waste – a citizen writes to us, who hopes for a rapid resolution of the problem so as not to have to spend the spring «barricaded in the house due to of this harassment" -. A walk with the dog becomes an ordeal and commuters who take the train to work every morning always have to put up with this rotten smell ."

The problem of olfactory harassment, in fact, is also known in Piazza Chiesa, which has already taken action with both citizens and offices to gather information. «Problems have been reported to us in the southern area, towards the purifier – explains the match councilor Adriana Gulizia -. We don't know for sure if the problem comes from there, but I have asked the offices to take action to investigate further ."

Another issue is that of the proceedings underway with the Municipalities of Mozzate and Gorla Minore for the «systematic monitoring of the perception of olfactory disturbance deriving from the activity carried out by the company Econord SPA , the anaerobic digestion plant of the organic fraction of the waste located in via Per Gorla a Mozzate, which only concerns the area north of Rescalda", for which the first phase of investigation envisaged by the "Guideline for the characterization and authorization of gaseous emissions into the atmosphere from activities with an odorous impact has been concluded”.

There is talk of a first step which is activated in the face of " recurrent and significant reports of olfactory disturbance by the populationresiding in the area surrounding the production site".

Following the checks, in fact, ARPA sent to the Municipality of Rescaldina «the report with the results of this first phase of investigation – underlines Gulizia – concluding that “there are the conditions to continue the process of verifying the nuisance as envisaged by the Phase B referred to in the " Guideline for the characterization and authorization of gaseous emissions into the atmosphere from activities with an odorous impact ".

The official technical table must therefore be convened , in which ATS, the Province and Econord must also participate, which will be responsible for any olfactometric measurements that must be evaluated as part of the authorization procedures for the activity.
